POEM:The Understudy

I’m mad at her I really shouldn’t be
Because she doesn’t….. even know me
So imma introduce myself to the one whose playing the
Understudy of myself
I was the one who stood by his side
When he got in trouble I was down for the ride
The money never mattered to me
Because materials from him I didn’t want or need
I must admit I’m mad at her she gets to reap the benefits
Of what I thought for years I had earned
You see the understudy’s never have to work hard
But what they don’t realize for a lil’ while they
Will only be filling in for my part
I must admit I admire her game
But don’t get it twisted
That part that she plays
Never seems to remain
The understudy’s make me laugh
Thinking that they got him
In their bag
Come on now you can’t really believe
That the thirty minutes you put in
Won you him
From me
I was here before you
And I will be here after you
Because remember.... you are just an understudy
Who  hasn’t put her work in
When the smoke clears
And dust rises
Like a shoe… I’m back in
I’m sure that by then you
Will realize that
You were just a fill in
The star of the show is back in
Good luck with finding a new role
Don’t get it twisted you will never steal this lead role
Remember you are just an understudy
And I’m the star of the show
And because of that being reality
 I’m not so mad anymore
